Yes, we were on TV

It was General Conference this weekend for The Church of Jesus of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We enjoyed listening to the Prophet, apostles and other church leaders. It is a great spiritual strength in this world of shifting values.

On Sunday, we had a bunch of friends/family contact us saying they saw us on 'TV' this weekend. Since we watched via the internet (watch here), we didn't see any of the special reports until later. Well, turns out they were right.

Caught! I don't remember the details, but it looks like this was before/after nap time. She loves climbing and most often climbs on the chairs to the table. She knew she was about to be taken off the table. Poor thing knows how to (try to) get what she wants.

Animals

June is learning her animals and the sounds they make. We probably have too much fun teaching her new animals. Here are some we do lately (she can't keep a straight face long enough to do a 'fish').

Weekend Away

Curt and I took a trip to Parksville, NY last weekend. My mom came to NY and watched June while we were away (and stayed an extra week to hang out). We found a quaint place on airbnb.com (as if you haven't heard me rave about that site yet). It was a cabin in the middle of nowhere. The people rent out this extra home and run a small cafe next door.

The food was European--mostly Russian and Ukranian. The husband makes it all from scratch in the kitchen. It was amazing to see how many people he fed on a regular basis. They were turning people away because they were full.

We went 'sugaring' at a maple farm about 10 minutes from where we stayed. It is a family that has been in the business for 4 generations.

We also learned how they use a reverse osmosis machine (to save time/energy) and a large distiller to get the sap to the syrup stage. We sampled some maple products and, of course, bought some syrup, candies and maple cream.

Another maple farm down the road still does it the old-fashioned way with spouts and buckets.

Walking from Grand Central to the Macy's flower show we naturally crossed Times' Square. It is the craziest place in NY. I'm glad we don't live right by it anymore.

Enjoying the Macy's flower show. Even before walking into the tent you could smell the fragrant flowers. It was gorgeous.
