Adventures with Daddy

June loves pasta. She's really done well at feeding herself lately too. This is not good evidence...but she is very good at it.

June LOVES veggies, but will not eat any fruits. The only way she really eats fruit is blended into a drink. Silly girl. She will spit it out the second it touches her tongue. Can't seem to get enough broccoli, green beans, peas, etc.

On the IKEA water taxi one Saturday

Leaving the Museum of Natural History. Daddy acrobatically rescued some balloons from the ceiling that had reportedly been there all day. The security guard said he'd be surprised if Curt could get them. What more encouragement does a guy need than that??

Going to visit Daddy. This was a few minutes before getting to his office. She always wakes up when we're outside his building.

Visiting Daddy at work. The best parts are hugs and escalators (Daddy and June go up and down at least 2x each visit)

Cotton candy at the Stake Street Fair (fundraiser for YW and scout camp). The funny part is June wouldn't even try a bite. She just liked holding it (and we ate it).

Washington Park Fountain

We went up to Washington Park to drop something off at a friend's home who lives by it. People were wading in the fountain and I thought it would be fun to let June dip her feet in since she had her flip-flops on. Of course the moment the feet hit the water, the hands want in too. She'd bend over and start to squat to touch the water and I'd ask her to stand up. This probably happened 5x before I decided I should just let her have fun. So I did:

This was when she saw the helicopter overhead. I love hearing her say helicopter. When we got home and I asked her about the day, she talked more about the helicopter than the splashing.

Of course I hadn't really planned for this. June went home in a dry diaper and a jacket. It was pretty hilarious.

When we went to the zoo two days later, June kept saying, "Mama, help. Splash?" and signed help and pointed to the water. It was hilarious. I can't count how many times I told her that water was for the animals and we couldn't swim in it. She asked at any animal that had water in its exhibit (many!)

The Bronx Zoo

Last Wednesday we went to the Bronx Zoo with Uncle Clint and a few other friends

This was the most fun June has ever had at a zoo. When we were getting ready in the morning I told her we were going to the zoo and she got excited. I asked her what was at the zoo and, without skipping a beat, she squawked, "Animals!" How on earth did she know that?? We do have a Little People book about the zoo I've been reading her very frequently for the last 12 mos or so. I guess more sinks in than I think.

Giraffe

The bears played and put on a little show for us.

Strolling with Paige. They got more "oohs" and "aahs" than the animals walking like this.

Zebra

June travels in style always. The subway ride to the zoo was an hour (well it was 1h 20min to get there because there were train issues...). I don't know how often we will make the trip, but it sure was fun!

When I ask her about our adventure to the zoo I ask her what we saw and she roars and roars and roars. Every once and a while she will respond "baboon," which sounds a whole lot like her word for balloon. Silly little girl. We sure love her!!!

Summertime Fun

It feels like summer is here and many days it looks like it too. Here's what we've been up to:

June is getting too smart. Period.
When she gets on the chairs by the table she looks for me and says, "What are you doing?" because that is what I always say to her. It's pretty hilarious. I'll try to catch it on video one of these days.

More time at the park. We do this every day really.

June's favorite coat. I have to avoid it because it is a little too warm for most days. She LOVES wearing it.

More park

On our roof deck. June has fun wearing her tutu and twirling

Giving the baby shots

Fishing at Central Park

Anette and I took the girls fishing at the Harlem Meer in Central Park a few weeks ago. There, they have a pond full of fish (blue gill, catfish, carp, some bass, etc.) and offer free fishing poles to borrow. Anette and I each got a pole and had fun fishing. It was funny to watch the fish nibble on the bait (they give you corn to use--I guess it is 'eco-friendly' bait?). It seemed the fish had been fished too many times to take the hook. Fortunately, we had each caught a fish after not too much time. It's all catch & release and the hooks don't have barbs. The poles don't even have reels so you just toss your line out a few feet.

The first fish was exciting. June didn't love how it wiggled.

The second fish. June tried to get as far away as possible. The second photo I'm holding her because she was crying so hard in the stroller.

Playing in the water (had to hang on to this girl--she would have gladly jumped in!)

It's a beautiful area

June's Friends

June remembers people very easily. To add to that, she doesn't fail to talk about them regularly once she learns the name. In the morning June generally goes through a list of where people are: Daddy? Corey? Clint? Paige? Anette? Emma? It's almost always the same order. I go through with her each time saying: He's at work, He's in Utah, He's asleep, She's at home, She's at home, She's at home.
Below are a few photos of June with her friends.

Park with Paige

June and Paige had too much at the park (dirty) so we threw them in the bath together. For at least 3 baths after this June would point to the empty space next to her in the tub and say, "Paige?!"

Walking on Wall Street

Playing in Paige's room (rooms for most babies in NYC are large closets)

Park with Emma

Sometimes this is the easiest way to transport between our homes. June and Emma have at least one good play-date per week (Amanda and I trade off so we can have time to work and get things done).

Hanging out at Emma's

More fun with Paige
Paige and June get along best. They don't seem to get on each other's nerves and have a pretty easy time sharing. It's fun to see them play together.
