I told June we would have a birthday party for her and asked her what she wanted her party to be like. She immediately suggested ballet. I was a little surprised she had such a fixed idea - and it was a great idea! I had a lot of fun planning and shopping for it:
Making the invites
Tutus and treats for our guests - the treats are all June's favorite snacks
Marshmallows dipped in white chocolate and pink sprinkles
June's ballet cake (pink lemonade cake and pink lemonade frosting)
Water and popcorn (including "pink princess popcorn" from our Disney Princess Cookbook)
We had a real ballerina - Kathleen - come to the birthday party and spend about an hour with the kids dancing and twirling
The kids were fascinated with her shoes (as were all of the adults). If you remember, ask June about ballerina shoes.
Jumping and dancing
Kathleen even did June's hair like a ballerina
Curtsy
The kids loved the ribbon sticks
Sorry for too many photos. It was easier to include them all than to choose my favorites....
Making princess crowns
Anson couldn't stay away from the fun
Our friends Daphne and Cici
June painted Thank-you notes for her friends. This is one she painted for Brenda, who sewed her an incredible princess dress (you'll see in the Halloween posts). It is June wearing her new pink dress. I LOVE June's human artwork.
