Tate: 2 Months!

This guy is the sweetest baby. He is following well in the steps of his big brother and sister. Tate weighed in at 15lb 10oz at his appt yesterday (">97%" off the chart). He is 25" long (97%) and has a 40.5cm head (59%). We're already moving on to 3-6 month clothes.

Tate loves to smile, particularly at himself in the mirror above his swing. He is starting to coo more and those sweet baby sounds make my day. He continues to love milk (obvious by his weight?) and is getting good "muscles" and rolls. He doesn't really like a pacifier and can hardly keep it in anyhow. I'm not going to give up because pacifiers are so nice for church and the subway/car!

Tate eats every 3-7 hours and has many more "awake" periods. We did a number on his sleep schedule by traveling over Labor Day weekend and having house guests: when he's in the same room as us/the kids (on vacation) or the same room as our guests (Nana and Grandpa visiting), I am more likely to jump up and feed him when he starts to stir rather than wait it out a little to see if he is just stirring. Hopefully we'll get back to normal over the next few days and have a regular-sleep-through-the-night schedule.

He likes to be swaddled tightly, loves being patted on the back and bounced and adores his siblings. Tate is a poop saver. Maybe all babies are? Mine sure have all been. One day he went through 3 outfits. He is a major belcher and hasn't had the same spitting up issues as Anson and June. Maybe I just didn't burp them enough? Spitting up is rare (yay!), but when it happens, it is big. It's maybe happened 6 or 7 times since he was born, aside from a little dribble here or there. He is really drooly, just like Anson (Anson always was and still is a drool machine).

Tate: 1 Month!

I'm actually writing this post on August 7th, but because I have scheduled the many posts I did last week, it won't go "live" until August 23rd. Either way, I am happy I'm finally keeping up!

Tate is a great baby. He's calm, happy, curious, sweet and everything wonderful about a tiny baby. Like any baby, he has times when he just wants to be held and walked around. It's not generally for long but happens at some point every day. He has grown a lot and really doesn't look like a 1 month old baby. I'm curious to see what his "stats" are at his appointment on Monday. I won't be surprised if he's 12 lbs - which is the same size as the other babies in our ward who are 2 months and 3 months old - that explains why he seems so large to me.

The longest he's slept in the night is probably 5.5 hours, maybe 6. The last few nights he's done a 5 hour stretch, 4 hour and then 3-4 hour stretch (basically his schedule from 8pm-8am). I feel like I'm getting enough sleep with that, even if I go to bed too late. During the day he eats every 2.5-4 or so hours. I don't keep very much track of these hours so it's tough to recall them for this.

He has been out and about a lot the last month. Much more than the other 2 kids, for 2 reasons. Primarily, it's summer. I don't love having babies during cold and flu season. Summer is the best! Second, he is the 3rd child so I am probably a little more lax, but also, the other 2 kids need to get out and about and have some normalcy. Speaking of the older kids, June and Anson adore Tate. Anson is concerned if he cries and says, "Baby Tate is crying' if he ever cries, June loves to hold him, sing to him, etc. She is a great helper and is so grown up. It's amazing to me how much she can do to help and how obedient and sweet she is. It's been a wonderful month and I hope time doesn't go quickly. This last month has been the perfect pace.

The days after Tate came home

Lego towers with Anson's legos while Momma cooks probably

Tate got to go on a car ride and we ran to Home Depot and Costco the day after I got home from the hospital. Home project and lots and lots of food.

Curt took me on a fun date to a performance by the Milan Ballet (The Cloak of the Dragon). It was part of a leather show he was participating in. Grandma Venita babysat all 3 kids

Tate: 1 week!

I actually wrote this when he was a week old - just left the text and waited until I sorted through photos.
Hard to believe it's already been a week since Tate came to this world. He is such a sweet baby already. He's a really good eater, sleeper and makes great diapers. At night he usually just wakes up once (why does it seem so much easier this time around? It's likely no different than it was with June and Anson yet somehow seems much easier). I think I over-prepared myself mentally for the transition from 2 to 3 to be the most difficult thing I've done. At the same time, though, I can't really say much because I've only done it for 1 week. Ask me in a few months how I'm feeling about having 3 kids in NYC.

Just like his 1-day photo I remembered to do it and did it immediately so I wouldn't forget - even though it wasn't ideal timing for Tate. He started crying and I just figured taking the photo was better than not taking it. Promise he's generally happy!!

Extra Tate Time

My cute little puppies

He's so tiny in the bassinet!

We've loved extra time with Grandma! She has come over much more recently (plus the temple closed for cleaning so she had extra time for us!)

Tiny little boy only wore newborn sized diapers for a few days

Curt installed some new ceiling lights
