Rome, Italy: Day 1

We flew to Rome after work on Wednesday and stayed until Sunday morning. I reserved a great studio via AirBNB. Thursday, Day 1:
Hanging out in our apartment

One of our [many] gelato stops. June loved trying the flavors out (or maybe Mom and Dad were just entertained by her excitement and curiosity)

Napping before the tour at the Vatican Museum

We had a tour of the museums (the kind provided by the museum). Our guide was great.

Courtyard (St. Peter's dome in background). It's hard to believe that ball the same as the one on St. Peter's dome (8ft?)

One of my favorites (Laocoön and his sons)

Nice dome  -  Raphael's School of Athens

Hall of maps

Hiking 500+ stairs to the top of St. Peter's dome. It was pretty slanted the closer you got to the top.

At the top

St. Peter's Basilica

The Pieta  -  "Our" Swiss guards

St. Peter's Square

Watching a 2012 UEFA European Championship soccer game at a local restaurant (across from the Colosseum). This game was Italy vs. Croatia (tied 1-1).
