Bonne année et bonne santé!

Welcome 2012
The week between Christmas and the new year was wonderful at the Calder home. Curt [miraculously] had the entire week off. We originally thought about doing a big Italy trip...but decided we wanted real vacation. So what did we do? We stayed home and played tons of games, watched hours of college football & movies and ate way too much.

June just looked really cute so we had to take a photo (thanks for the awesome headband, Kristin, and the cute shoes, Anna)

Curt and I took turns holding June during games. We think she may be a good luck charm. We learned how to play Cribbage for the first time. It is a great game. June has a thing for cards. When we'd hold her, she'd sometimes just look at the cards and "ooh" and "aaah." It was really entertaining.

Here June was trying really hard not to fall asleep in her swing. She, of course, fell asleep less than a minute after the photo.

One treat we love here is Tresse au Beurre, or butter braid. It's basically a dense, buttery bread. Anyone who has visited us here has eaten it at least once or twice. For fun I made us a loaf over the break. It turned out pretty well.

As I've mentioned before, the only problem with this type of holiday is it makes you want to quit your job and stay at home and hang out all the time. Unfortunately that doesn't really work in this world. Curt went back to work on Tuesday and we really miss having him at home 24/7. We can't complain, though, because we're glad he has a good job.
