Camping Trips

Yes. You can go camping in NYC. And yes. We are crazy enough to make space to store a tent, sleeping bags and pads in our 800 sq ft apartment. I don't know many people in Manhattan who are that crazy. Anyhow, we found a great campsite nearby and enjoyed taking advantage of Curt's flexible schedule and going during the week. We have gone 2x so far this summer.
This was the first time we'd taken the kids camping since living here. It was the first time the kids camped overnight in a tent.

We had hot dogs and s'mores

Cost for camping in NYC: Rental car ($45/day+gas) Campsite $17 and Wood $10 (they have rules you have to have kiln-fired wood to prevent the spread of disease). Cheapest vacation possible--and SO fun.

There was a great beach at the campsite. It was too cold the first trip, but we were excited to swim in the lake the 2nd trip.
